Tahiti Vacation

Tahiti is the largest island in the Winward group of French Polynesia, located in the archipelago of South islands in the Southern Pacific Ocean. Tahiti is estimated to have been settled between AD300 and 800 by Polynesians, although some estimates place the date earlier. Tahiti has been labeled as the “most beautiful place on earth” is the perfect choice for a fun-filled vacation.

A vacation in Tahiti will allow you to picnic on secluded beaches, have a romantic dinner at the waters edge, and participate in a wide range of outdoor activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, catamaran cruises, tennis, and helicopter tours. The island offers the only black sand beaches, and has tremendously lush rain forest away from Papeete and higher in the mountains where you find panoramic views, waterfalls and streams.

Moorea Honeymoon- An 8-hour flight takes you to Papeete (12 from NY) where you’ll be greeted by musicians and welcomed with flower lei. A 7-minute flight and you’re in Moorea! For the next eight days- You wake up with the sun, take one look at the shimmering lagoon and majestic mountains to realize you really are in paradise! On the last Day- Continue hanging out on the beach or head into Papeete early for some last-minute sightseeing before boarding your return flight home.

Tahaa Private Island Resort is one of the most luxurious and comfy resorts in all of French Ploynesia. It is set on a private motu island on the remote North West lagoon of Tahaa facing the island of Bora Bora. The bungalows at this resort offer an unparalleled view and experience. Another resort that you would love is the Bora Bora Lagoon Resort. This is a great place for a Tahiti vacation because you can experience everything that the French Polynesian Island has to offer its visitors.

The Municipal market offers local farm products, handicrafts, souvenirs and a variety of fish and food products. This grotto features a lake of black water that creates an optical illusion – the cave appears much smaller than it actually is. Tahiti Lagoonarium is a combination of Fish Park and aquarium and features more than thousand species of marine life including sharks, moray eels, turtles and tropical fish.

Tahiti is a wonderful place to visit and you’ll want to come back to this place after you have visited it once!

Rugby Union in French Polynesia

Rugby Union in French Polynesia

$70.1

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Rugby union in French Polynesia, particularly in the main island of Tahiti, is a popular sport. Traditionally, matches tend to be held in the evening rather than the afternoon, due to the tropical climate. Because of this, Tahitian rugby organisers tend to put on entertainment during the day, to keep visiting rugby players etc happy. As with many Pacific Island nations, rugby is the main sport. Rugby came to Tahiti via three separate streams, firstly, through the visits of British, New Zealand and Australian sailors; secondly, through the French presence (many of the main teams are still French military); and thirdly through contact with neighbouring Pacific islands, where the game is popular. Much of the competition these days is informal, but like many French colonies, the connection with France is a mixed blessing. On the one hand, serious Tahitian players can go and work in the French leagues with ease, and earn a living there, but on the other, this causes a massive haemorrhaging of talent. Historical Dictionary of Polynesia

Historical Dictionary of Polynesia

The term Polynesia refers to a cultural and geographical area in the Pacific Ocean, bound by what is commonly referred to as the Polynesian Triangle, which consists of Hawai’i in the north, New Zealand in the southwest, and Easter Island in the southeast. Thousands of islands are scattered throughout this area, most of which are currently included in one of the modern island states of American Samoa, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, Hawai’i, New Zealand, Samoa, Tonga, Tokelau, Tuvalu, and Wallis and Futuna. The third edition of the Historical Dictionary of Polynesia greatly expands on the previous editions through a chronology, an introductory essay, an expansive bibliography, and over 400 cross-referenced dictionary entries on significant persons, events, places, organizations, and other aspects of Polynesian history from the earliest times to the present. Appendixes of the major islands and atolls within Polynesia, the rulers and administrators of the 13 major island states, and basic demographic information of those states are also included.

Varua Tupu: New Writing from French Polynesia

Varua Tupu: New Writing from French Polynesia

$22.78

Varua Tupu strengthens the ancient ties between Hawai’i and the islands of French Polynesia by translating the voices of an emerging Ma’ohi (Polynesian) literary community into English and showcasing the cultural arts of the region in general. This volume features translations of a variety of locally celebrated genres, including poetry, memoir, and fiction. Though this work is focused on the current moment, it includes fresh translations of poet Henri Hiro, who served as a spark to the tinder of the Tahitian cultural renaissance in the 1960s and 1970s and who continues to inspire the currrent generation of literary activists. Since the eighteenth century, a mythic and misleading image of Tahiti has become familiar to the world at large. Varua Tupu represents the first opportunity for the international community to experience the many islands of Te Ao Ma’ohi through their own voices and visual arts.

It is usually called the Grey Duck in New Zealand. It is also known in New Zealand by its Maori name, P rera .Description This sociable duck is found in a variety of wetland habitats, and its nesting habits are much like those of the Mallard , which is encroaching on its range in New Zealand. It feeds by upending, like other Anas ducks. It has a dark body, and a paler head with a dark crown and facial stripes. In flight, it shows a green speculum and pale underwing. All plumages are similar. The size range is 54 61 cm; males tend to be larger than females, and some island forms are smaller and darker than the main populations. It is not resident on the Marianas islands, but sometimes occurs there during migration. The now extinct Mariana Mallard was probably originally derived from hybrids between this species and the mallard , which came to the islands during migration and settled down there. There are three subspecies of Anas superciliosa :Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, AustraliaThe
